VIRTUAL HOME MANNERS (VHM)

Virtual Home Manners is for those who want to train their dog at home on practical skills before attending a training class.

The evaluation will be based on the dog's ability to perform 10 home manners by video in a home setting. Two levels are offered: Virtual Home Manners Puppy (VHMP) and Virtual Home Manners Adult. Dogs and owners are assessed on 10 skills such as dog owners having control over the dog, being able to walk the dog, and developing a bond with the dog during playtime. Dogs that pass the tests will be awarded these titles.

The Virtual Home Manners tests are evaluated online by CGC Evaluators in the same manner as is used for Virtual Tricks. VHM is a natural lead-in for the AKC STAR Puppy and Canine Good /Citizen in-person training.

How Virtual Home Manners Works

To earn the Virtual Home Manners titles, follow these easy steps:

1. Dog owners will video their dogs performing the required skills (on the VHM checklists).

2. A link to the video will be sent to an Approved AKC CGC Evaluator. Zoom and other live formats may also be used for evaluating Virtual Home Manners. To contact an evaluator. Sportsmen's Evaluators would be happy to review your video or arrange for a live Zoom format. Fee is $20 per VHM. Upload the video to You Tube and email one of our evaluators with information below. Facebook Messenger can also be used. Zoom live format may be used. Please contact one of our Evaluators to make the Zoom time arrangements. AKC/ PAL/Canine Partners number

Level of Virtual Home Manners (Puppy or Adult)
Supply the Video Link, or thru Facebook Messenger; or arrange a Live Zoom Format with an Evaluator

1. After watching the video, if the dog passes, the Evaluator will send the combined Checklist/Video Verification Form to the dog owner. The Evaluator will also send a copy of this form to AKC.

2. The dog owner will send to AKC:
a)the Checklist/Video Verification, and
b) the Virtual Home Manners Title Application form along with a fee of $25.00.
